Quality of Life of Mothers with Cerebral Palsy Children and Influencing Factors

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to provide a basis for nursing intervention strategies to promote quality of life in mothers with cerebral palsy children. The study subjects were 59 mothers with cerebral palsy children who had visited a rehabilitation center for disability in Pusan in June through July, 1999. Noh´s Quality of Life scale was used to evaluate the quality of life. The reliability of instruments was tested by Cronbach´ s a and the influencing factors on quality of life were tested by stepwise multiple regression.
The mean score of the quality of life was 3.02. The self esteem, the support of the husband and extra-care demand had a statistically significant influence on the quality of life. It is suggested to develop a support program for mothers with cerebral palsy children to improve the qi >ality of life.
